１９９７年１０月１８日（土曜日），エチオピア初めてのゴルフ場のオープンを後1ヶ月に控えて，準備中のゴルフ場を訪ねて特別に１８ホール（９ホール２度）のプレーを敢行，大勢のエチオピア在住邦人が待ち受けているので，ここにその概要を報告する。
如何にもレストランとバーに金をかけすぎたと言う感じであるが，オーナーはむしろこのレストランの経営に主眼を置いて，ゴルフ場は趣味で作ったというのが本音ではなかろうか。レストランは２０席以上のテーブルを持つイタリアレストランで，パスタ類を得意としているようだ。他に喫茶部とバーが付属している。清潔で，アディスでも有数のレストランになるのではないか。「味はどうですか？」とボーイが聞くので「ゴルフ場より大分上等だ。」と応えておいた。ボーイ，苦笑い。
イタリアでゴルフのプロの資格を取った Haile Gebreeghziabher 氏 （ゴルフ場電話番号
713062 or 201893）が自己資金を投じて建設したものであるが，元の敷地は旧飛行場で，フェアウェーは飛行場の草地をそのまま使っている感じで，雑草が短く刈られてはいるが，各所に地面が露出している。ここに，ティーグラウンドとグリーンを築造して，これを繋ぎあわせて９ホールを作ったもので，決して上等とは言えないが，娯楽に飢えた在留邦人や欧米人にとっては，まさしく砂漠の中のオアシスとなることは間違いない。折あしく雨となり，粘性の高い土を基盤としたフェアウェーは，歩くのに苦労するほど土が靴にくっついて，雨期のプレーは大変だな，長靴を履いたほうが好いのではないかと思うぐらいであった。しかし，距離も３０００ｍを越えており，パー３６で，ゴルフの好きな人には堪えられない素晴らしい企画である。２００ｍ以上の練習場も付属している。キャディーは全然当てにならないので，皆でキャディーを教育する積もりでプレーすること。
1. The duration of membership will be for one year, starting fromm the
inauguration of the Golf Course.
2. Ther are two types of Memberships;
A. Golf Course, Driving range, Bar and Restaurant
B. Driving range, Bar and Restaurant
3. Paying additional fee, any member can use the club Gymnasium.
4. Each member will get services to which he paid for, in accordance with
the daily guets of the club.
5. Each member can bring his/her guest to the club house. But disregarding
the guets' citizenship, whose residence is in Addis Ababa, can not frequent
the club more than five times.
6. The Member has to book up the guests' name each time he brings the guest,
in the guest list book which is placed in the club's reception.
7. Members and other users of the Golf course will abide and observe the
rules and regulations issued by the club's sport commission.
