ISLAMABAD (December 2) : President Rafiq Tarar has promulgated the Sales Tax (Second Amendment) Ordinance 1998 enhancing the rate of General Sales Tax from 12.5 percent to 15 percent from December 1.
..........Another sudden development was that the powers of the federal government and CBR officials to grant exemption in sales tax have been withdrawn with immediate effect and in future only the Parliament would give exemption through an Act.
